YORK City Knights will come to Whitebank Stadium tomorrow (Sunday, 3.00pm kick off) without the services of experienced stand-off and assistant coach Chris Thorman.

He is likely to be out for a week or two with a thigh muscle injury received in the game against Hornets at the Huntington Stadium, which the Knights won 36-34 after leading 24-4 at one stage.

In their next match against Swinton Lions, also at home, they led 30-16 at half-time only to lose 36-30.

With four wins and four defeats they lie in fifth place in Co-operative Championship 1 after being tipped pre-season to be one of the teams to watch.

Coach James Ratcliffe was reported to be less than happy with their second-half performance against the Lions, in which they conceded 20 points without reply, and director of rugby Dave Woods is demanding that the side plays with more intensity.

He said: “We need to be more intense in everything we do, whether that’s in training or in a game.

“We need to address that and start to get a little bit more intensity about us. We can’t keep coming back into the changing rooms after a game, having had our pride hurt.”

The Knights will choose from 20 for their trip to Oldham.
