World Cup suspensions

An International Match Review Panel has handed down the following World Cup sanctions:

Sam Burgess (England) – one-match suspension for a grade A high tackle on Sam Thaiday of Australia in the 63rd  minute at Millennium Stadium.

Paul Aiton (Papua New Guinea) – one match suspension for a grade A high tackle on Morgan Escare of France in the 76th  minute at Craven Park, Hull.

Both players have until 11.00am today (Tuesday) to accept the sanction or lodge an appeal. Any appeal would be heard at an International Disciplinary Tribunal at Red Hall, Leeds, this evening.
