DAVE Bowden, the Workington Town chairman, has appealed to fans of the Cumbrian club to get behind their team big style when the curtain goes up on the 2012 Co-operative Championship One season against Oldham at Derwent Park tomorrow (Sunday).

In a passionate rallying call in the local paper he has urged fans to: ‘Keep the Faith, remain united and cheer us on to promotion.’

“Our fans are the best in the world,” he added. “That’s a fact. They have been with us through everything. We need fans to keep believing we can realise our dream. We must stick together and with them behind us they can cheer us on to our goal.

“The team has a great work ethic and a spirit I haven’t seen around here for a long time. It’s great to be part of what is happening at Derwent Park. I have every confidence we have the right blend in the squad to mount a serious promotion challenge.”
