What Scott said . . .Date published: Monday, August 10, 2015
JUST as he had promised, Scott Naylor delved into his squad to field a new-look Oldham side in our 70-6 win at Hemel, including two on-loan 19-year-olds in half-back David Hewitt and front-row forward Elliott Liku.
He also called in Tom Ashton at left-centre in only his third appearance for Roughyeds and his first, due to injury, for nearly four months.
Said Naylor: “They all did well with Elliot (Liku) making his debut for us and having to get used to a completely new environment.
“Hemel isn’t always an easy place to come to. Fans will remember that we have been here in the past and lost.
“We didn’t start to my liking, but we grew into the game and then had long spells when we were very good indeed.
“We spoke about a few things at half time and we then went out for the second half and played like we’ve been playing for the past two months.
“It’s nine wins in a row now and another one ticked off. That’s good.
“I’d like to thanks the fans who made the long journey. They gave us excellent support and the lads appreciate it.
“We hope they like the brand of rugby we are playing. Long may it continue.”
