Ex-Leigh, he joined London Skolars when his full-time employment took him south and it was from White Hart Lane in North London that he signed for Roughyeds at the start of the 2010 season on returning north to represent his company as a manager in Greater Manchester.

A strong front-rower with a nifty step and a turn of pace of which any back-row man would be proud, ‘Elly’ played in each of the Roughyeds’ 28 games in his debut season — 20 of them as an impact prop coming off the bench.
