Wing. Another local recruit, born 15-10-84. Squad number 5. Sponsored by Nigel Marland. A former favourite with local amateur club Oldham St Anne’s, John played for Rochdale and Blackpool before coming “home” to join the Roughyeds at the start of the 2010 season.

Was unlucky to suffer an early-season shoulder injury which kept him out for ten weeks, but he still finished the season with 16 tries in 19 outings — a handsome return. Cruelly, he was hurt again in February, 2011 when his nose and eye socket were smashed in a Northern Rail Cup game against Whitehaven, this sidelining him again for the start of the 2010 league campaign.
