The Holland’s H’s

HOLLAND’S Pies have scored a winner with Oldham Roughyeds . . . by sponsoring the posts at Whitebank Stadium.

The ‘Holland’s Hs’, as they will be known, will carry crossbar branding and will get a mention over the pa system every time Roughyeds convert a try, land a penalty or drop a goal.

“The ‘Hs’ are a significant symbol in rugby as well as in Holland’s. It’s a great idea to link them,” said Gary Brooks, the company’s stadia sales manager.

As part of a two-year deal, Hollands will supply Roughyeds with pies for sale in the clubhouse and in the refreshment hut inside the ground, both of which will be open for Sunday’s game against London Skolars (3.00pm kick off) and also for next Wednesday night’s reserve-team game against Featherstone Rovers (8.00pm kick off).

Gary has watched several Oldham games this season, including last Sunday’s first at Whitebank, and says he is becoming quite a fan.

He added: “This is a big year for both Hollands and the Roughyeds, and we are delighted to be working as partners.

“The year is a huge one for Hollands because of our new partnership with Coronation Street and the launch of our new product, the peppered steak pie.

“We are also proud to be extending our partnership with Roughyeds at such an exciting time for the club and to be supplying their fans with the region’s favourite pies.

“I’m really taken on by what the are doing at Whitebank to build a home there and to take the club forward. There’s a buzz around the place and its obvious that it means a lot to the supporters.”

Rachael Marsters, the Roughyeds’ commercial manager, said: “We trust we will have a long relationship with Holland’s Pies, who have sponsored individual matches previously but who have now come on board with us in a two-year deal.

“It was Gary’s idea for Holland’s to sponsor the ‘Hs’ and we were delighted to go along with that.

“We can do lots of promotional activities now we have our own ground and we intend to work with Gary and his team to put on activities at half-time during the course of the season.

“Our fans love their rugby — and their pies. We can offer them both thanks to this new link-up with Holland’s.”
