Phil Costin, coach of our scholarship squad, is tipping some of his under 18’s to graduate to the first team squad.

Costin’s cubs, all twenty two of them, are training twice a week ahead of games against Workington and Leigh at home and Keighley and Hunslet away.

Most of the players are from outside the area, from Widnes,Wigan, Huddersfield and Bradford.

Said Phil”There are some very gifted players amongst them and I will be disappointed if some of them don’t make the Reserves and then go on to join Tony Benson’s squad.”

“Their commitment is phenomenal.  They are hungry for knowledge and a pleasure to coach.  They can’t wait to show what they can do in a game.”

Provisional game dates, set by the R.F.L> are: Workington(home) Sat. June 25; Hunslet(Away) Sat. July; Keighley(away) Sat. July 30 and Leigh(home) Sat. Aug 27.

These dates are subject to change, particularly the Leigh game as it coincides with Challenge Cup Final day.
