The Co-operative is on the search for Oldham’s biggest fan, with nominations now open for the 2010 Co-operative ‘Fan of the Year’. Co-operative ambassadors Paul Sculthorpe and Jamie Rooney are behind the campaign and will be helping to find the most dedicated fan in the country who demonstrates loyalty to both their club and the sport.

A panel of judges will assess a range of criteria ranging from match day attendance, their contribution to the sport or club, their passion for the sport, and those that have ‘gone the extra mile’ to promote the game within their community.

The ‘Fan of the Year’ will be announced in the run up to Finals day and presented to the crowd on the pitch at the Co-operative Championships Grand Final on Sunday 26th September where they will receive their trophy and acknowledgement from the crowd.

Co-operative ‘Good for Everyone’ ambassador Paul Sculthorpe said: “I have no doubt that there will be hundreds of quality entries this year for the 2010 Co-operative Championships ‘Fan of the Year.’

“I am looking forward to assessing the nominations and being part of the search. I have met some dedicated fans over the years, so I have no doubt that competition will be fierce.”

Jamie Rooney, recently signed to The Co-operative’s ambassador line-up for the 2010 season is also excited about the search.

“Personally I will be looking for the fan that has that ‘X Factor’, that extra bit of support they have managed to bring to their local community through their support of their club.”
