Specsavers sponsor Kit

WITH an eye to the future, Specsavers has agreed a two-year kit sponsorship for Oldham Rugby League Football Club’s Roughyeds.

The opticians stores in Oldham and Royton have shown their commitment to the club by becoming commercial partners with Roughyeds for the third time in two years.

In March 2009, the opticians got behind the rugby club and signed their first deal with Roughyeds to bring music to the stands for the first time at Boundary Park.

Then, in May, 2010, Specsavers in Oldham and Royton agreed a two-season deal to sponsor the new scoreboard at the Whitebank Stadium — an agreement that concludes at the end of the current 2011 season.

Now the Roughyeds will be seeing green as part of the new two-year agreement in which the Specsavers logo will feature on the team’s playing kits for the first time.

Nigel Williams, a co-director of the three Specsavers stores, says: ‘Peter Holt, Rod Fullalove and I are very proud to be part of such as great team and are very honoured to be allowed to feature our Specsavers logo on their kits.

‘We are looking forward to seeing the team on the field. As a supporter, we will continue to support the team commercially and personally.’

The three joint directors of Specsavers in Oldham and Royton have always seen eye-to-eye with the Roughyeds, and their vision for the Co-operative Championship One Club is to see it go from strength to strength now that it is established in its home base in the borough.

‘We are delighted to be developing and extending our partnerships with Specsavers,’ said club chairman Chris Hamilton. ‘We trust our already well established links will go from strength to strength and will continue to prove of mutual benefit commercially.’
