Schools RL finals

SADDLEWORTH will contest four age-group finals in the Oldham Schools’ Rugby League’s big, end-of-year jamboree at Whitebank on Monday.

They were beaten by Bluecoat in the Year 11 final three weeks ago, but they have four more chances of silverware from Year 7 to Year 10 inclusive.

Programme:

11am:  Year 7, Saddleworth v Waterhead Academy

Noon:   Year 8, Saddleworth v Failsworth

1pm:    Year 9, Saddleworth v The Blessed John Henry Newman RC College

2pm:    Year 10, Saddleworth v Bluecoat

The cream of local schoolboy rugby league will be on view, for the first time, at the home of Oldham Rugby League Club.

Steve Nield, RFL community coach for Oldham and Tameside, said: “It will be a spectacular end to the season, with four of the five finals on the same day, and it will be good to have this big schools’ event hosted for the first time by the town’s professional club.”

Admission is free, but programmes will be on sale, as will refreshments throughout the four hours of non-stop rugby league.
