Oldhamers Joe Greenwood and Danny Yates will return “home” to play against the Roughyeds this Friday 27th when we take on St Helens at Whitebank Stadium.

Yates, a half back who played at Waterhead, will be joined by Greenwood an 18 year old prop who Saints signed from Saddleworth Rangers and who, after training with the First Team squad in 2011 was rewarded with several outings at 18th man.

A Saints spokesman said that Greenwood had “trained the house down” in pre season and that the club was excited by his potential.

In addition to the local lads several other young First Team squad members will be turning out at Whitebank.

Club Chairman Chris Hamilton said ” St Helens have also confirmed to us that several of their senior First Team players will be playing in the game on Friday and we will have details of those players later today. With this news it really does increase the excitement surrounding the game, not only with the prospect of several of the stars of the future on show but also with the knowledge that senior players will be playing. It is a great opportunity for the players and staff to test themselves against top players who perform in a full time environment week in week out and a once in a lifetime chance for our fans to witness Super League stars playing at our ground.

Once we are able to announce the names of the senior players featuring I am sure our supporters will make sure they are there to witness what should be a great game if rugby league.”
