Roughyeds have strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced centre, Mark McCully, formerly of Hornets and Blackpool Panthers.  McCully (31) has also played for Leigh, Chorley Lynx and Workington after starting his career with home town team St Helens. He spent the last two seasons at Blackpool but has now signed a contract with the Roughyeds until November 30th.

Having reached the half way stage of the league campaign with only four wins out of ten Roughyeds are gearing up for a much improved return over the second half of the campaign.

McCully said, “Oddly enough I have nearly signed for Oldham on three previous occasions over the last few years, so hopefully this will be a case of fourth time lucky.”

“It will be great to kick start my career again and I am eagerly looking forward to the challenge.”

A friend and former team mate of Carl Forber and John Clough, McCully has recently been playing Rugby Union with Liverpool St Helens.

Coach Tony Benson said,”Mark will be a great addition to the squad.  He is strong on both attack and defence and they don’t come any more experienced than him.”
