Roden deserves “fantastic” send-off

Date published: Friday, February 20, 2015
NEIL Roden’s testimonial game at Whitebank on Sunday (1pm kick off) will be a “fitting finale” for a player who has given Oldham outstanding service over many years, said chairman Chris Hamilton.
Half-back Roden (34) becomes only the second player in the 17-year history of the ‘new’ Oldham club to benefit from a testimonial.
The first was hooker John Hough in 2008.
Added the Roughyeds’ chief: “In all probability, given the way the sport is going, Neil will be the last Oldham player to qualify for such recognition.
“To play 12 seasons for a club, albeit in two separate spells, is a remarkable achievement which we are  unlikely to see repeated.
“He deserves a fantastic send -off from fans with whom he has always had an excellent relationship.”
Admission is £5 adults and £3 concessions.
