Rhydian to entertain fans at Carnegie Challenge Cup Final

Date published: Sunday, August 21, 2011

Leading operatic artist Rhydian Roberts will headline the pre-match entertainment at this year’s Carnegie Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 27.
Prior to kick-off, Rhydian, who was a finalist in ITV’s X Factor and saw his debut album go platinum, will lead the crowd with his rendition of Abide With Me and the national anthem God Save The Queen.
Providing support to the Welsh-born singer will be the world’s most recorded band The Black Dyke Band, who have made over 350 recordings.
Before the music gets under way, Yorkshire rivals South Leeds Academy and Brooksbank School Sports College, Halifax will fiercely contest the Carnegie Champion Schools Year 7 final, the traditional curtain raiser to the main final.
Prior to the anthems being sung, the famous Wembley Stadium pitch will present the Giants of Rugby League, who will ‘lift’ the Challenge Cup. More than 200 young people from Hertford, Richmond and Oldham have come together to perform this stunning show.
At half-time fans will be able to take advantage of an interactive competition utilising the two in-stadium giant screens at either end of Wembley Stadium. Fans with smart phones are being encouraged to download the ‘Screach’ application from the app store on any of the smart phone platforms. Once the app is downloaded, supporters can take part in a competition which will give them the chance to win two VIP hospitality packages at the 2011 Gillette Four Nations double header at Wembley on Saturday November 5. Fans have to simply answer three multiple choice questions that appear on the giant screens and submit their answers via the Screach app..
