RFL offer condolences to family of Harold Swift MBE

The RFL has offered its condolences to the family of Harold Swift MBE who passed away on Friday at the age of 76.

Swift had been involved in Rugby League for over 40 years and was an integral part of BARLA since its launch in 1973. He also played a key role in the development of community club Blackbrook and was an important member of the St Helens ARL.

His hard work and dedication was rewarded in 2004 when he was awarded an MBE for services to Rugby League and the wider community. In 2005 he was inducted on to the RFL Roll of Honour.

RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said: “Harold was a great influence within the community game for many years and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

“Rugby League was a huge part of his life and over the years he held several different roles. Harold was a man of vision and his influence can be felt throughout the community game.”
