RFL inspection on Tuesday

THE Rugby Football League have confirmed that they will be at Whitebank Stadium on Tuesday afternoon to examine facilities and to look at the amount of upgrading work that has been completed so far.

Depending on a successful outcome, and the completion of work that has still to be done, Roughyeds will launch the club into a brand new era by staging the first game at Whitebank against York City Knights on May 9.

“Officials of the RFL will be here on Tueday to take a look,” said club chairman Chris Hamilton, “and providing they are happy with what has been done and what is currently being done, we hope to open up at Whitebank against York.

“We are quietly confident we will make it so long as we get the outcome we want from the RFL on Tuesday.”

Meanwhile, work is continuing to be done at the ground and volunteers who are available tomorrow (Saturday) morning are asked to report to Whitebank any time after 9.30am.

Work will have to cease around lunchtime because Oldham Borough FC play Wigan Robin Park at Whitebank in the afternoon, kicking off at 3.00pm. This is Boro’s last home game of the season. Admission to the game is £5.

Work will continue again on Sunday from around 10.00am and volunteers will be welcomed with open arms.

There is a specific and urgent need for skilled joiners, but anyone who is able and willing to turn their hand to a wide variety of tasks would be greeted with open arms.
