Reserves Vs York

Oldham RL reserves play York City Knights at Whitebank on Thursday (8pm) hoping to return to winning ways after a 40-16 loss at Featherstone Rovers on Friday night.

First-half injuries to Valu Bentley (elbow) and Matthew Fogarty (knee) hurt Roughyeds hard, but the side made life difficult for itself by losing possession regularly and constantly infringing.

Six first-half penalties gave Rovers all the possession they needed to race into a 22-0 half-time lead.

Oldham played much better in the second half to score tries by Mark Brocklehurst, Danny Langtree and Phil Joy with Jack Reid adding two conversions.

Joy, at prop, and Mark Smith, at loose-forward, were two of the hardest-working forwards on the field, while Michael Ward came off the bench to replace Fogarty in the centre and also played strongly.

Winger Shaun Robinson, returning after a hip injury, came through with flying colours.

Team: Nield; Brocklehurst, Hinsley, Fogarty, Robinson; Reid, Connick; Joy, Mansfield, Gilchrist, Langtree, Bentley, Smith. Subs: Ward, Hughwes, Bailey, Forber.
