There are two new boys in the Reserves 20-man squad for tomorrow’s (Sat) clash with Sheffield Eagles at Whitebank, kick off 3.00pm.

They are 20-year-old stand-off Tommy Connick and 20-year-old utility man Danny Edmondson.

Connick is a St Helens lad who has played twice for Leigh Centurions first team this year in pre-season friendlies.

Edmonson, who comes from Rochdale, is currently studying at Leeds Met University and has played for Oldham St Anne’s.

The squad is as follows:

Ross Coates, Sean Hamilton, Jamie Knight, Alistair Williams, Danny Chetwynd, Tommy Connick, Mick Diveney, Ben Mellor, Scott Mansfield, Ben Marsden, Johnny Walker, Michael Ward, Mark Smith, Austen Barrowclough, Dean Hatton, Michael Cadd, Kashley Watkins, Danny Edmondson, Tom McMullen, Phil Joy.

As well as the two debut boys, Johnny Walker in the second row will be playing only his second game and 17-year-old Danny Chetwynd, on the wing, will be playing in his third.

He came from Rochdale RU Club, but it has emerged that he is no stranger to rugby league, having played for both Saddleworth and Mayfield.

Houghie and the boys are hoping to have good support, as they have had in their last two games at Whitebank, and don’t forget that after the game you can watch England v France from Leigh on the big screen in the club, followed by the World Cup soccer match between England and USA.

It should be a good day at Whitebank — just a taster for Sunday —- and admission is £4 adults, £2 concessions and free for under-16s. Kick off is 3.00pm.
