Reserves in the spotlight

COACH John Hough is hoping fans will rally round tonight (wed) to turn up in numbers and make his Roughyeds’ reserve team’s debut at the Whitebank Stadium a truly special occasion.

For the first time since Roughyeds moved into the ground at Limehurst Village, the floodlights will be on, thus turning the spotlight on the club’s young hopefuls in their match against Featherstone Rovers.

Hough will pick from a 19-man squad which includes a dozen Oldham-born players; ten professionals; and three who are knocking on the first-team door in Mark Brocklehurst, Dean Hatton and Kashley Watkins.

Squad: Ross Coates, Sean Hamilton, Jamie Knight, Alistair Williams, Mark Brocklehurst, Paul Ashton, Mick Diveney, Jacob Kinney, Dean Hatton, Ben Mellor, Kashley Watkins, Michael Ward, Mark Smith, Mark Brocklehurst, Michael Cadd, Ben Marsden, Johnny Fullalove, Danny Knight, Phil Joy.

Roughyeds will be out to avenge a 42-30 defeat at Post Office Road in mid-April and go one better than their first team by emerging victorious from their first-ever run-out on the club’s new home ground.

Kick-off is at 8.00pm. Admission is £4 adults, £2 concessions, free for under-16s and seats will be available for no extra charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Car parking is £1 and fans are asked to use the official car parks rather than park in the streets near the ground.

The refreshment hut will be open inside the ground.
