ORSA’s recruitment driveDate published: Thursday, June 4, 2015
ORSA, the Oldham RL supporters’ association, has launched a recruitment drive.
It’s £10 a year to join and officials are keen to enlist new members so the association can step-up its assistance to the parent club.
In consultation with the coaching staff, ORSA provides practical support to the players by meeting and maintaining their nutritional and training requirements on and off the pitch.
They also run a Squad Strengthener Fund, which helps the parent club to sign players and which has assisted recently in the signing of Tom Ashton and in the recruitment on loan or dual registration of Nathan Mason, Josh Johnson and Jon Ford.
Said chairman John McAndrew: “In simple terms we are here to help Oldham RLFC and its players in the pursuit of their goals.
“Anyone is welcome at our meetings and we work jointly on some social events and fund-raising schemes with Higginshaw ARLFC.
“We need all the extra help we can get and anyone who wishes to offer tangible support to the Roughyeds, over and above cheering on the side on match days, can do so by joining ORSA.”
Contact Sheila or Grant Somerville or John McAndrew at Whitebank on match days or ring (0161) 633 1791 for further information.
+ Craig Halstead, a lifelong fan who has written the latest book on Oldham Rugby, ‘From Watersheddings to Whitebank’ (London League Publications, £11.95), will be at the game against North Wales Crusaders on Sunday to sign and sell copies of his work.
