All fans are invited to a meeting of the Oldham Roughyeds’ Supporters’ Association (ORSA) which will take place next Tuesday, December 10, at 8pm.

For the first time, the meeting will be held in Royton at the White Hart, 233, Oldham Road OL2 6BB.

After the unqualified success of the World Cup, these are exciting times for rugby league fans and at Oldham we can look forward to another action-packed season in which we will be striving to go one better than last time when we finished second in the division and second in the play-offs.

We currently have 20 players contracted for 2014, all of them training hard under the command of Scott Naylor, Lee Spencer and Mike Hughes (conditioner), all of whom did a splendid job last season — their first at the club.

ORSA officials will be delighted to see lots of new faces at Tuesday’s meeting. Why not go along and see what the supporters’ association is up to.

* The club is also working hard in the local community (see the latest story about our links with Impact Community Project) and one of many examples of that is the continuing progress being made by Limehurst Lions, the new junior rugby league club.

Attracting interest mainly from parents and youngsters who live in Limehurst Village, close to our Whitebank ground, the Lions now have more than 40 children, nearly all of them newcomers to our sport, training regularly at the ground.

The Lions are having a Christmas party in our Whitebank social club on December 14 between 1pm and 4pm.

Admission is by ticket only, children £1.50, adults £2. Fancy dress optional. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
