Oldham Reserves vs Featherstone Reserves this Friday

Date published: Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Following the postponement of last Sundays final pre season fixture at Featherstone the club have agreed to play a Reserve team fixture at the same venue this coming Friday kick off 8pm.

This match will provide Reserve Team Coach Paul Ashton with his first match since taking over from John Hough at the end of last season.

Ashton’s players have been training for some weeks now ahead of what will now, once again, be a six team Reserve Team Championship after York City Knights rejoined the competition. This follows hot on the heels of Rochdale Hornets withdrawing from the same competition last week.

The league will start in early March and will comprise of 16 league fixtures plus a top three Play Off.

The other teams in the league will be York, Featherstone, Keighley, Halifax and Sheffield.

Head Coach Tony Benson will also be looking at the possibility of some of the First team squad taking part in Fridays match as some players have yet to play a game this season. Neil Roden (chest infection), Paul Noone (work) and Lucas Onyango (knee) have not yet taken to the field and new signing Paul Ballard was also due to make his debut last week.

The injury situation in the senior squad will also have an influence and a decision on which players will turn out on Friday will not be made until Thursday at the earliest.

Season ticket holders are reminded that 2012 tickets are available for collection for the club offices from 10am on Wed morning up until 5pm on Friday.

People wishing to collect tickets from the ground on Sunday can do so but the club is asking for as many people as possible to call in advance to the club offices on Lansdowne Road. Fans are reminded to bring their receipt which will be needed to exchange for their ticket.
