Oldham 52 Gatehead 16

WINGER Dale Bloomfield grabbed a try hat-trick in our 52-16 win against Stanley Gene’s Gateshead Thunder at Whitebank on Sunday (April 13).

Playing some of our best rugby of the season so far we registered ten tries in total, the others coming from Danny Langtree (2). Sam Gee, Josh Crowley, Ben Wood, Jason Boults and man-of-the-match Kenny Hughes.
Lewis Palfrey landed six goals in a tricky wind to give us our biggest total of the season.
Numerous players, among them Ben Wood, halves Lewis Palfrey and Brett Robinson and Alex Davidson also impressed as they started to show their best form.
There was nobody to touch Hughes though in terms of a man-of-the-match accolade. He had a brilliant game when coming off the bench midway through the first half to go in at hooker — his favourite position.
As a result of York’s surprise home defeat by Oxford we are now the only unbeaten side in the division as we look ahead to Friday’s top-of-the-table clash with Hunslet Hawks at the South Leeds Stadium (2pm kick off).
The Oldham team against Gateshead was as follows:
Whitehead; Agoro, Wood, Gee, Bloomfield; Palfrey, Robinson; Joy, Whitmore, Boults, Crowley, Langtree, Hobson. Subs: Hughes, Davidson, Tyson, Ward.
Att: 436.
