BACK in action after a week off, our boys turned in a stunning performance on attack and defence to beat the University of Gloucestershire All Golds 46-6 at Whitebank.

The West Country visitors came with the reputation of having recently beaten both York and Hunslet, but there was to be no repeat of last year’s result when they held us at Whitebank to a 24-24 draw.
Scott’s men totally dominated the game from start to finish, restricting the All Golds to one try which was the direct result of a towering bomb that caused us bother when it swirled in the tricky wind.
It was a near faultless defensive display, while on attack we played some terrific rugby to run in nine tries, three of them by left-winger Dale Bloomfield.
‘Bloomers’ took his tally for the year to 17 while on the other wing Mo Agoro came up with one on the stroke of half-time to extend his try-scoring sequence to an astonishing ten matches.
Josh Crowley also had a brilliant game, fully deserving of his official man-of-the-match award. The Kingstone Press Magic Moment award went to ‘Bloomers’ for his three second-half tries inside 25 minutes.
Said Josh: “We know we can score points, but prior to today we’ve struggled a little bit defensively at times. We’ve put that right now and we need to kick-on at this level of performance for the rest of the season.”
Added Dale: “Defensively, we were a bit weak on our side of the field when we played at Oxford, but we’ve been working on it and we got it right today.”
Cue this comment from club chairman Chris Hamilton: “We like to think we are coming good just at the right time.”
