Oldham 40 Kells 6Date published: Monday, March 21, 2016
WE moved into the fifth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup with a comfortable 40-6 win against plucky amateurs Kells at Bower Fold.
The draw will be made on Tuesday evening and will involve the 12 fourth-round winners plus the four lowest-ranked clubs in the 2015 Super League, namely Hull KR (beaten Wembley finalists), Salford Red Devils, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Widnes Vikings, who are doing “a Leicester” in this season’s Super League.
The 12 to go through from round four were OLDHAM, Rochdale Hornets, York City Knights, Dewsbury Rams, Halifax, Batley Bulldogs, Sheffield Eagles, Leigh Centurions, Featherstone Rovers, Hunslet Hawks, French club Toulouse and Castleford amateurs Lock Lane.
The draw will be made on Sportsday on the BBC News Channel between 6.30pm and 6.45pm on Tuesday and matches will be played on the weekend of April 16/17 with one tie selected for Sky Sports on April 16 (5pm kick off).
To get to this stage we ran in eight tries by Danny Grimshaw, Jamel Chisholm (2), Jon Ford, Jack Holmes (2), Gary Middlehurst and Adam Files, while Steve Roper kicked four goals from eight shots while taking over marksman duties in the absence of Lewis Palfrey.
Team: Lepori; Clay, Holmes, Ford, Chisholm; Roper, Grimshaw; Joy, Owen, Spencer, Langtree, Middlehurst, Gee, Subs: Ward, Thompson, Hughes and Files.
Grimshaw (ankle) and Langtree (hamstring) both left the field early and will now be monitored closely ahead of Good Friday’s big game against Halifax at Bower Fold (3pm kick-off).
