Oldham 28 North Wales Crusaders 38Date published: Monday, June 8, 2015
AFTER winning our first five League One games, we slipped to our third defeat in four outings when beaten 38-28 by iPro Sport Cup winners North Wales Crusaders at Whitebank.
The scoring sequence was similar to that at Keighley with Roughyeds trailing heavily at half-time and then mounting a recovery but still falling short of a win.
Said coach Scott Naylor: “This was another disappointing result and another disappointing performance, especially in the first half.
“I thought we would bounce back after the Keighley game, but we repeated a lot of the things we did wrong in that match.
“If you let quality sides score a lot of points in the first half you are always going to be struggling.
“Some of the lads were outstanding, but some weren’t and this was certainly no team performance.
“Mistakes proved costly and you can’t afford to make them against quality opposition.
“We can’t keep going in for half-time and moping about in the dressing room because we are losing.
“We’ve got a couple of injury absences and a couple of lads who are suspended, but we can’t offer that as a reason for how we played. We’ve just to get on with it.
“All teams suffer from things like that and go through bad spells, but what matters is how you respond to adversity and we are not responding in the right manner.
“We’ve just got to dust ourselves down now and shake ourselves out of it.”
