OLDHAM RL Club’s reserve-team squad is doing much of its pre-season training at the new Chadderton Wellbeing Centre — and that’s thanks to a second-year commercial partnership between the club and Oldham Community Leisure.

Under the tutelage of coach John Hough and other members of the Roughyeds’ backroom team, the up-and-coming young players at the club have been able to take advantage of the new Centre’s pool, gym, studios and classrooms

“It’s a fantastic facility,” said John, “and one of which OCL must be very proud. We have done a lot of our pre-season work at the Centre and just to be there makes the young players feel good and well looked after.”

Roughyeds and OCL have worked in tandem on several projects in the past, and both parties are delighted that the partnership is continuing.

The OCL logo is featured prominently on the first team’s playing jerseys and also on the club’s website.

“We have strong community links and, as ever, we are extremely grateful to OCL for continuing to back us,” said the club’s commercial manager Rachael Marsters.

Ian Kendall, OCL’s chief executive, said it was important that OCL was seen to be supportive of local teams and organisations like Oldham RLFC.

He added: “It is all about improving the image of the town. That’s where we are coming from and we wish the Roughyeds every success in the 2010 season. We are just glad that we can help.”
