OLDHAM Rugby League Club have confirmed that the Roughyeds’ future is at Whitebank.

Scotching rumours of a move back to a redeveloped Boundary Park, club chairman Chris Hamilton said such a move was not part of the Roughyeds’ future planning.

He added: “We want to put an end once and for all to these unhelpful, inaccurate and totally misleading rumours.

“Having worked extremely hard for a long time to find a home for the club in the borough of Oldham, it would make no sense whatsoever to leave that ground now.

“Trying to develop Whitebank has been a source of frustration for a number of reasons, but it still represents the best opportunity we have to take the club forward into the future and to remain in control of our own destiny.

“Fans can rest assured that we are staying put.

“I hope they will appreciate our decision to confirm this publicly, and to continue to support our team as we enter the most important part of the season as one of the form teams of the competition.”

A new date for the fans’ forum is expected to be announced shortly.

The Roughyeds’ Extended Scholarship under-18s side will play its fourth and final game of the season against Leigh Centurions at Whitebank on Thursday, August 25 (7.30pm kick-off).

They have previously beaten Workington at home, drawn at Hunslet and lost at Keighley.

Free transport to Whitebank from the Waterhead/Watersheddings side of town will leave The Junction Inn, Ripponden Road at 7.0pm.. Please ring 0161 633 2759 to book.
