Maisie-Lou Designs

OLDHAM RLFC has linked up with Maisie Lou Designs, a family-run business based in Lees, to market a wide range of club merchandise carrying the club’s embroidered badge.

The business, launched last November, belongs to Becky Nowell (36), a solicitor by profession, whose husband Matt is a lifelong Roughyeds’ supporter.

He said: “We felt that a move like this would benefit both Oldham RLFC and Maisie Lou Designs while at the same time making available to supporters a wide range of quality merchandise at competitive prices.

“We hold the stock, so the club doesn’t need to have capital tied up or to face a major outlay initially.”

When her first daughter was born five years ago, Becky took a career break and began making personalised children’s gifts for friends, using bespoke embroidery.

She quickly realised there was a market for her quality products, so she took the decision to leave her post as a Senior Crown Prosecutor with the CPS in Central Manchester to work full time in developing and expanding her business in personalised gifts.

Becky, who has two daughters, Charlotte (5) and Harriet (3), said: “It was a daunting experience to leave behind the drama of the courtroom, but it was a decision that wasn’t taken lightly.”

Items for rugby fans include Oldham RLFC knitted hats for children and adults; match-day reporter bags; waterproof drawstring bags; mouse mats; mugs; teddy bears; towels and blankets, all at prices ranging from £7 to £17. Available soon will be car stickers, dressing gowns and baby grows.

Fans can get a more detailed look at what’s available online in Roughyeds merchandise by going to and clicking on ‘clubs and associations’ in the list of ‘shop categories’.

It is important to note that this is merely the start of a new range of Oldham RLFC – associated items and over a period of time the range will grow.  Embroidered lines provide quality and longevity over printed merchandise and won’t crack and fade in time.
