Law cup game moved to Sunday 8th January

THE scheduled Law Cup game between Oldham and Rochdale Hornets at Whitebank today (Mon) is OFF because parts of the pitch are still waterlogged after days of incessant rain.

Please note that the game has been rearranged for this coming Sunday, January 8, at Whitebank, again with a 3pm kick off.

The decision to postpone was made this morning following a 9.30am inspection.

Said Roughyeds chairman Chris Hamilton: “It’s very frustrating because if the rain had stopped 24 hours earlier we would have been okay. We looked at it on Sunday afternoon and at that stage there was no chance because the pitch was holding a lot of water.

“It was better this morning, but even then there were some areas that were still holding water and were very boggy and muddy. Large areas were completely saturated.

“In those circumstances it would have been foolish to play, and it’s all the more frustrating because the weather this morning is dry and decent.

“We have, however, moved quickly in our talks with Hornets and the game will now be played this coming Sunday, January 8 at Whitebank with a 3pm kick off.”
