OLDHAM RL Club have reduced game-day admission prices next season.
In the wake of coach Scott Naylor’s impassioned plea for more public support, Roughyeds have announced across-the-board cuts of £1 at the turnstiles and have included in the price of a season ticket a 10-per-cent discount on 2013 replica shirts and leisure wear.
If the club continues to run an under-18’s or under-19’s team — a decision will hinge on the outcome of an RFL review of age-related rugby beneath first-team level — season-ticket holders will also get free admission to that team’s home league games.
Said club chairman Chris Hamilton: “In fixing our prices, discounts and offers we have taken the tough economic climate into account.
“With a guarantee of only ten games at Whitebank all season we don’t have much leeway, but we have done the best we can for supporters while bringing in a new coaching team and rebuilding with a squad of players, many of them new to the club, who are hungry for success.
“Scott (head coach Naylor) has given fans an insight into how he will run the playing side of the operation and to coincide with the start of pre-season training tonight now is an opportune time for fans to get behind what he and the club are trying to achieve.
“All clubs are heavily dependent on season-ticket sales and we hope as many fans as possible will be able to take advantage of what we have on offer.”
Season tickets cover eight home league games and two home games in the group stage of the Northern Rail Cup.
They are on offer until 5pm on December 14, 2012 at these prices:
Standing: adults £100, concessions £80, under-16’s £25; seats, adults £115, concessions £100, under-16’s £45.
Concessions include students under 18 in full-time education on production of a valid students’ ID card.
Last season’s seat holders can renew the same seats up to 5pm on November 30, 2012, after which they will go on general sale.
Match-day turnstile prices: adults £11, concessions £9, under-16s £3, transfer to seats £2.
Season-tickets can be purchased by cash or cheque only, payable to ORLFC, at the club office in Lansdowne Road, Chadderton (tel: 628 3677) which is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
RFL decisions on the future of under-23’s (reserves) and under-18’s competitions are still awaited, but Roughyeds (one of the few clubs in the second and third tiers to fly the flag for reserve-team rugby in recent seasons) believe it is unlikely there will be an under-23’s competition in 2013.
Added the Oldham chairman: “There is a reasonable chance, we believe, of an under-18’s or under-19’s competition, the latter to mirror that in Super League, and if that is the case we will be looking to enter a team.
“Hopefully, there will be more games than we have had in the past for our under-18’s and our season-ticket holders will be admitted free to home matches.”
