Welcome to the Oldham Rugby League Club’s brand-new website, one which we hope all Roughyeds fans will find to be up-to-the-minute, informative, entertaining and user friendly.

“We know how important websites and the like are these days and we intend to give Roughyeds supporters the best possible service,” said our new Commercial Manager Rachael Marsters, who has organised this new club initiative and who will be the point of contact for supporters wishing to comment on or discuss any point relating to the site.

Rachael was keen to get the site up and running as soon as it was possible so by its very nature you will find that initially it will be a work in progress with some features, player and staff profiles being one, still in need of updating. You can rest assured that the work will be done with due speed and a sense of urgency.

The club now has an official facebook profile and a twitter page and it will also introduce Roughyeds TV which will provide supporters with features such as interviews with players, fans and staff as well as match highlights and much more.

Fans should keep an eye open for new features and fresh material which will be introduced in due course, not forgetting our lively news service which we believe is one of the best and most consistent in the business.

Now for the technical stuff, and the brains behind it. The site was designed by Scott Parry of iKreativ, who have joined the club’s sponsorship portfolio. Scott has been in the industry for more than eight years, working on and off as both a successful freelancer and also as lead design for other agencies.

Driven by passion and meticulous attention to detail, Scott set out to create beautiful, functional websites to a standard that would satisfy his own expectations and thus was born iKreativ Design Studio with Scott as its Founder and Creative Director.

Based in Oldham, iKreativ.com continues to produce websites and user experiences that surpass their clients’ expectations and continually strive to push the boundaries of design.

Rachael asked Scott a series of questions to provide fans with an insight into the man behind this latest Roughyeds’ venture:

Q: Do you follow Rugby League?

A: Although I think sport is great, being a tech geek I spend far too much time in front of my iMac which really doesn’t allow much time for anything else.

Q: Have you enjoyed designing the Roughyeds website?

A: Yes. We enjoy every single project we work on, it’s what makes us different.

Q: What was your main aim when designing the site?

A: We aimed to create a website that was in line with current web trends and incorporated modern and future technologies such as jQuery and CSS3 techniques. We also aimed for the site to be very user friendly and also easy for the Roughyeds’ staff to maintain and update.

So there you have it. Welcome to the Roughyeds’ 2010 Co-operative Championship 1 campaign . . . and welcome also to the club’s new and user-friendly website.

Rachael and all the backroom team at Roughyeds trust you will both USE IT and ENJOY IT.
