Kevin Sinfield wins Golden Boot

CONGRATULATIONS go to Kevin Sinfield from chairman Chris Hamilton and everyone at the Roughyeds on Sinny’s stunning achievement in winning the Rugby League World magazine’s 2012 Golden Boot award as the sport’s greatest player.

The Oldham-born captain of Leeds Rhinos, who first handled a rugby ball at the Waterhead club, is only the fourth Englishman to win the Golden Boot after Ellery Hanley, Gary Schofield and Andy Farrell.
Joining Sinny on a short list of six were Sam Tomkins and four Australians, Ben Barba of Canterbury Bulldogs, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith of Melbourne Storm and Nate Myles of Gold Coast Titans.
Congrats also to Paul Sculthorpe, another Oldhamer and a former Watersheddings ball boy, for being awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for his achievements in rugby league and for his unstinting charity work.
