Jack Walker RIP

The well-known and well-liked groundsman Jack Walker, who looked after Watersheddings for many years, has died in hospital at the age of 77. He was part of the fixtures and fittings at ‘Sheddings for a long, long time and was a familiar figure around the place to thousands of fans, usually seen working with his right-hand man Caine and his little dog.
A keen cricket fan, he was also involved for many years on the local cricket scene, both at Crompton CC and later at Milnrow CC where he took charge of one of the youth teams.
After Watersheddings went, he moved to Boundary Park, still with Caine and still with his trusted four-legged friend.
