Independent Supporters Association

KEEN Roughyeds fan Paul Whalley is rallying the help of supporters to raise funds for the club.

He has called an open meeting in the club at the Whitebank Stadium on Thursday of next week, July 22, at 8.00pm to discuss the formation of an Indepedent Supporters’ Association.

Head coach Tony Benson has been invited and he is expected to be there along with some of the players.

A leaflet advertising the meeting was handed out to fans as they passed through the turnstiles at Whitebank for last Sunday’s game against Swinton Lions.

Said Paul: “Fans did a lot of work on the ground to make sure Whitebank was ready for our first game there against York City Knights and I’m sure a lot of them would be happy to work on fund-raising for much-needed equipment.

“First team and reserves are both enjoying lots of success in their respective leagues and we have a chance of promotion to the Championship.

“If the team is to keep on moving onwards and upwards, however, the club needs our support not only on match days, but throughout the year.

“That’s why I think we should discuss the formation of an Independent Supporters’ Association and why I hope people will attend the meeting on July 22.”
