England’s Gareth Hock has urged young Rugby League fans to make the most of the fantastic offer for the international double-header at Salford City Stadium (Saturday October 19), which sees children aged 16-and-under admitted free entry to England v Italy (4.30pm) and England Knights v Samoa (2.00pm).

Hock believes that Saturday is the perfect opportunity for young fans to watch the best English talent, as players such as the NRL-based Burgess brothers, Sam, Luke and George, play together for England for the first time.

“It is good for all the kids to come and look at all the superstars like Sam Tomkins, Rangi Chase and the Burgess brothers – it will be really good for them so I would urge them to get themselves down there,” said Hock.

“The World Cup is the biggest prize of the year and they don’t come around that often. It’s massive.

“It is a good test for us against Italy, before we play Australia in the World Cup on October 26, and it is a good chance for everyone to come down and see the likes of me and Rangi Chase, who will be playing for the Salford Red Devils next year, at Salford.”

Hock and Chase, who roomed together during England’s recent training camp in South Africa, have both signed to play for the Salford Red Devils next season, with the warm-up match against Italy being the first time the pair will play there as Devils players.

“It has given me a new lease of life going to the Salford Red Devils, I am really excited,” said Hock. “It is a different team and there are some really exciting players there – there are going to be some really exciting things happening next year at Salford.

“The England training camp in South Africa has been good, the boys have really gelled. It is tough training at high altitude and we are just looking forward to getting back and playing in the World Cup.

“Rangi has had me up at seven o’clock every morning, down at the gym for half seven. It has been fun with him, we have really gelled and I am looking forward to playing alongside him at Salford next year.”
