Former Oldham Chairman passes away

HARVEY Ashworth, former chairman of Oldham RLFC, has died in Lymm, Cheshire, where he had lived for many years. He was 85.
Formerly a farmer and wholesale butcher, he had a lifelong interest in the Oldham club and became chairman in the early 1980s when he succeeded Ray Hatton at a time when the Watersheddings club finished half way up the old first division under the command of coach Frank Myler.
The funeral will be on Friday, August 3 at 10am at St Peter’s Church, Oughtrington Lane, Lymm followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium.
