WE duly progressed to the fourth round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup with a 42-24 win against National Conference League premier division side Egremont at the Copeland Stadium in Whitehaven.

Eight tries were scored in total by Mo Agoro, Kenny Hughes, Steven Nield (2), Danny Langtree, Adam Files and Josh Crowley (2), while Lewis Palfrey converted five of them in a tricky wind.
We raced into an early 20-0 lead and led 24-6 at half-time, but to their great credit the Cumbrian amateurs came back hard at us in the second half and at one stage they pegged us back to 30-24.
Then up stepped the impressive Josh Crowley to power his way over the line twice inside two minutes to score tries which Lewis P converted.
The score perhaps didn’t do justice to Egremont’s second-half fightback, but we always knew it would be tough up there, and it certainly was; not particularly in the physical sense, but because the Cumbrians were a good side with enthusiastic forwards and a couple of nippy half-backs in Lewis Beckwith and Paul Corkhill who certainly needed some handling.
Scott Naylor said: “The objective was to get through to the next round, and we achieved that. We did a very professional job in the first half, but it was a different story in the second half when we gave away too many penalties and too much field position.
“Egremont can be proud of their performance, but we did what we came to do and now we move on.”
