Don’t miss out

TICKETS are going well for the President’s dinner in the Whitebank club on Thursday, July 8 and already several tables have been sold as well as a considerable number of individual seats or small groups.

This is going to be a really enjoyable occasion for all Roughyeds supporters and a special one in many ways, not least because it will have a historical significance as the first major social event to be held by the new club in its very own home within the borough.

Fittingly, the only man at boardroom level to have had an unbroken association with the new club since it was formed 13 years ago, Chris Hamilton, will be the speaker on a night which is sure to be an emotional one for him. One suspects he will not be on his own either in that regard.

The dinner is to celebrate Chris’s successful year of office as President of the Rugby Football League, which ends soon, and to mark the significance of that office, given that he is the first club official from Oldham to wear that particular chain of office.

Super League referee Ian Smith, another Oldhamer, will MC the dinner and there will be humour from Bobby Bender.

Tickets are priced at £250 plus vat for a table of ten or at £25 a head for individual bookings. There will be a raffle and an auction. Dress is lounge suits.
