EVERYONE at the Roughyeds extend their heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Scott Mansfield and Luke Sutton on the arrival of additions to their families.

Scott’s girl friend Clare presented him with a 7lb 8oz baby boy, Lucas Scott Mansfield, at their home in Moorside. A few days later, Luke’s wife Kelly gave birth in Burnley General Hospital to a baby girl called Esme, weighing in at 9lbs 1oz.

Luke and Kelly now have five daughters between them, the eldest of whom is 11.

“We live at the top end of Whitworth,” said Luke, “so it was just as easy for us to go to Burnley hospital as it was to go to Rochdale. Mother and baby are doing fine.”

There was a similar report from Scott. “Clare chose to have the baby at home,” he explained, “but he arrived quicker than expected, so it was all prettty exciting.”

Scott took it all in his stride, as one would expect from a young man who works full-time in a private children’s nursery and is quite accustomed to changing nappies and the like.

Said Roughyeds coach Tony Benson: “On behalf of the club, the squad and all the backroom staff I would like to offer sincere congratulations to Scott and Luke and to their partners, linking with those sentiments the very best of wishes for the future.”
