Steve Deakin, aged 51, and a
coach for 24 years, he has seen service with Chorley, Halifax,
Sheffield, Keighley, Rochdale, London Broncos and
Huddersfield as well as with French clubs Cannes and Catalans
Dragons. He also did a brief spell on the coaching staff at
Watersheddings in the Peter Tunks era, but he has come a long way
since then.
During that time he has won the Challenge Cup as John Kear's assistant at Sheffield and won the French division championship as head coach with Cannes. Fully aware of the task ahed of him, Steve hopes to realise his ambition of coaching a Super League team, if that can be achieved with his home town club, all the better. He has signed a contract to the end of the 2007 season.
