‘Big Give’ latest

IN wishing, on behalf of the club, all supporters a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, Roughyeds’ chairman Chris Hamilton has also thanked everyone who has donated food items or blankets and clothing for the ‘Big Give’ appeal to help the needy and homeless this festive season.

“We have had a great response and our thanks go to everyone who has donated items,” said Chris, who is working closely on this project with Impact Community Church.

All the donations of food will have been distributed locally by Christmas Eve, most of it to needy families in the Limehurst, Hollins and Collier Hill areas.

On Christmas Day, ahead of his mission to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester to spend time with the homeless, Chris will be interviewed on BBC Radio Manchester at 12.30pm when he will be talking about the ‘Big Give’ appeal and his own personal experiences of mingling with the homeless in the city centre on several occasions over the past two or three weeks.

He will be down there again on Christmas Day, spending time with the homeless and distributing sandwiches, soup, blankets and warm items of clothing such as scarves, gloves, woolly hats and jumpers.

He added: “A big thank-you, once again, to everyone who has contributed. If we have collectively played just a tiny part in making a little bit of difference to the lives of some of the many people who are in desperate need of help it will have been very worthwhile.”

The Roughyeds office will be closed from 5pm today, December 23 until 9am on Thursday, January 2.
