‘Amazing’ World Cup set for ‘The Big Hit’

Tournament director Nigel Wood is confident that the closing stages of the Rugby League World Cup can capitalise on the success of the first 25 matches.

More than 280,000 fans have packed into grounds across four countries and the remaining three matches look likely to again provide huge crowds with superb international rugby league on offer.

Upwards of 63,000 tickets have been sold for ‘The Big Hit’ semi-final double header at Wembley this weekend and the only remaining tickets for the final at Old Trafford are a few hundred hospitality tickets starting at £40 each.

Fans are being urged to take the opportunity to see the four best teams at RLCW2013 go head to head at Wembley with England set for a mouth-watering clash with New Zealand, while Australia take on Fiji in a repeat of the 2008 semi-finals.

Said Wood:“As we go into the final stages of this tournament the important message to fans is that you can still be part of history.

“You can still be at The Big Hit semi-final event. With 63,000 tickets already sold we know the atmosphere will be electric but tickets are still available.

“The final at Old Trafford will attract the biggest-ever crowd  for an international Rugby League match and will become the best-attended rugby league game ever to be staged at Old Trafford.

“This has been an incredible tournament, full of moments that existing and new Rugby League fans are bound to cherish. I’d encourage anyone who has not yet been to a game to take the last chance to be part of this amazing tournament.”
