Action for Children and Oldham Rugby League Club, partners in a new joint venture to promote healthy lifestyles, will meet soon to finalise details of their programme.

One of the key elements of the project is to encourage dads and male carers to become more involved with the ten children’s centres run by Action for Children across the borough for the local authority.

The partnership was launched when Action for Children took a party of more than a hundred children, parents, carers and staff to watch Oldham RL Club’s 32-26 win over Barrow Raiders at Whitebank.

Andrew Giltrap, Action for Children commercial manager, said: “We’ve had excellent feedback from the families who were with us at the game. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere at Whitebank.

“Many have said they can’t wait to go back to see another match. We are all looking forward to getting more involved with the club over the coming months as the partnership between Action for Children and the Roughyeds takes shape.”
