Joy to have a scan

PROP Phil Joy was to have a scan today on the shoulder he dislocated in Oldham’s 20-18 defeat by London Broncos at Bower Fold ten days ago.

A powerhouse in the Roughyeds’ front-row, he will be hoping to be back as quickly as possible, having already missed the heavy defeat at Hull KR.

Tyson ban now cleared

SCOTT Naylor has promised that Oldham will be back to their pre-Hull KR form against Dewsbury Rams at Bower Fold on Sunday.

Danny Grimshaw suffered a head injury after half an hour and will be assessed during the week, but George Tyson has now cleared his four-match ban after being sent off for striking at the end of the pre-season Law Cup game against Rochdale.

What Scott said . . .

NEVER one to make excuses and always calling it as he sees it, Scott Naylor said he was disappointed with Oldham’s performance in a 48-0 defeat Hull KR, but he promised that his Roughyeds wouldn’t play like that again when Dewsbury Rams come to Bower Fold next Sunday (3pm kick-off).

He said: “Previously this season we’ve based our performances on a good attitude, big hearts and maximum effort and in most of the boys those three key ingredients were missing this time.

One ‘toughie’ too far . . .

PERHAPS it was one ‘toughie’ too far for Oldham, who beat Sheffield Eagles convincingly and then held both Featherstone Rovers away and London Broncos at home to two-point winning margins before finally succumbing 48-0 to a powerful Hull KR outfit at KCOM Craven Park.
