George Tyson Charged

GEORGE Tyson, sent off for fighting after the final hooter at the end of Oldham’s Law Cup defeat by Rochdale, has been charged by the sport’s Match Review Panel with grade D punching.

With his club chairman, Chris Hamilton, by his side, the 23-year-old centre will make a personal appearance in front of the RFL’s independent Operational Rules Tribunal tomorrow (Tuesday) to answer the charge.

Langers hopeful of return to action

DANNY Langtree remains upbeat about his prospects of returning from injury in Oldham’s first league game of the season against Sheffield Eagles at Bower Fold on Sunday, February 5.

Out with a hamstring problem since minute two of the Roughyeds’ first friendly at Swinton on January 8, ‘Langers’ is getting “more and more frustrated” by the day, said coach Scott Naylor after training last night.

BBC to show every game of Rugby League World Cup 2021

The BBC have secured the rights to the Rugby League World Cup 2021, cementing their commitment to Rugby League over the next four years.

As well as showing the forthcoming Rugby League World Cup in October/November 2017, the new deal means the BBC will now retain free-to-air rights to all 31 matches of the 2021 home tournament. Live coverage of at least 16 matches will be on BBC One or BBC Two, with the remaining matches available on Red Button and online.

Players in Spindles signing session

ROARY, Oldham RL Club’s popular mascot, will again be at the centre of the club’s continued partnership with Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre in the coming season.

The Roughyeds squad will meet and greet shoppers at a signing session in the Centre’s upper mall between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday week, February 4, the day before they kick off their Kingstone Press Championship campaign against Sheffield Eagles at Bower Fold, Stalybridge.
