Roughyeds’ Tag Tournament

Oldham Roughyeds have linked up with the Hathershaw School Sports Partnership to organise a Rugby League Tag Tournament on Tuesday 20th November. The event kicks off at 1.30pm at Hathershaw School and brings together several local Primary Schools. This competition is the culmination of an intense period of  Rugby League Coaching sessions delivered by the Roughyeds’ Community Development Department and part-funded by “Energise”.

In addition to over 100 boys and girls expected to participate, the Tournament will benefit from the expertise of the recipients of the Junior Sports Leaders Award while Roughyeds stars and club mascot, “Red’Ed” will also be in attendance.

Sean Mellor, Roughyeds’ Community Development Manager has been delighted with the response to the event. “This is my first experience of inter-school activity in Oldham and I have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and natural ability of many of the children and the level of cooperation of the various partners. Oldham has a great pedigree for unearthing Rugby League talent and I am sure there will be plenty on show at this Tournament.”
