                                         DANNY HALLIWELL

Experienced centre Danny Halliwell is one of many new signings for 2008 and like some of the others -- not all -- he has committed himself to the Roughyeds for 2009 as well.

The 26-year-old Leigh-born Halliwell was on loan at Leigh, from Salford, last season, but he has also worn the colours of Halifax, Warrington and Wakefield, some of them while on loan.

A player with a lot of Super League experience, he can play anywhere in the back division and he is equally at home in both centre positions, having the ability to play on either side of the field. With Mick Nanyn expected to figure on the left, Halliwell will probably figure on the right side of the field in 2008.

Announcing the capture of Halliwell on October 22, chief executive Chris Hamilton said the club was delighted to have acquired a player of proven ability with a lot of experience of Super League while at Halifax and Leigh.

In actual fact, Halliwell has figured in 43 Super League games -- three for Wakefield and ten for Warrington in 2002, 25 for Halifax between 2000 and 2003 and five for Leigh in 2005. He has scored 15 tries in the elite competition --- eight of them in his ten outings for Warrington while on loan there in 2002.

A proven try scorer, he is a good defender and a player who has all the attributes to be a major capture for Roughyeds.

Added Mr Hamilton: "We have been keeping an eye on Danny for a while. You don't play as many Super League games as he has done without ability. We expect him to be a top player at this level and to prove to be a good signing for us."
