MATTY Brooks and Simon Baldwin, out for several weeks after knee
surgery, will start their comebacks in the Oldham Reserves tonight
against Salford City Reds at Sedgley Park (7.30pm).
Both were injured in the 18-14 Northern Rail Cup win against Salford
at Boundary Park on February 22 and both have since had knee
operations.
It will be Baldwin's first game since that great win, but Brooks
played one more time as a substitute in the Carnegie Challenge Cup
win against the British Army in Aldershot on March 9, with his knee
heavily strapped and protected.
Lee Wingfield, out for a year after a complete knee reconstruction,
will continue his comeback with his third appearance for the
Reserves, while Tommy Grundy will also be on view after mssing the
last two first-team games with a back injury.
Admission to the Reserves is £4 for adults and £2 for children and
OAPs. Secure parking is available inside the ground for £1 with all
takings going to the Roughyeds and used to offset the costs involved
in running the reserve team.
A young Roughyeds second team is still seeking its first league win
but after tonight they will have played Salford, Rochdale and Leigh
home and away --- and those are the three teams that occupy places
one, two and three in the league table.
Turning to Sunday's fifth-round Carnegie Challenge Cup tie at
Dewsbury, fans should note that seats are still available on the
supporters bus that will leave the social club at 1pm and the Black
Horse at 1.15pm. Seats cost £12.50. To book ring Janet at the club
on 0161 628 3677 or Joyce on 0161 665 1832.
Admission prices for the tie (a ground where you can sit or stand)
are as follows: seats, adults £13, OAPs and under-16s £8; standing,
adults £12, OAPs £6, under-16s £2. Students must have relevant ID
cards available to take advantage of reduced prices for them.
